Target's price match is simpler than it used to be, and a lot of people still think it matches Amazon or Walmart. It doesn't. Here's how it works right now.
Target only matches Target
Target matches a lower price on the identical item at Target.com, in Target stores, or with a Target Circle deal. Its policy page doesn't list any other store. You can ask when you buy, or up to 14 days after.
- In store: go to Guest Services with your receipt and show the lower price on your phone.
- Online or in the app: chat with Target or call 1-800-591-3869.
- The item has to match exactly: brand, size, weight, color, quantity and model number.
- You need the original receipt or packing slip. Show the live online price or digital ad. Target says it can't accept screenshots or pictures.
The 2026 holiday price match
Target says that starting November 1, 2026, if you buy an item in store or online and the price goes lower at Target on or before December 24, 2026, you can ask for a price match. Outside those dates, the normal 14-day rule applies.
My tip: buy the gifts you know you want now, keep every receipt in one place, and check the price again during the big sale dates. If it drops at Target, ask for the difference.
What doesn't count: clearance, closeout, open box, refurbished and used items, price typos, a price at a different Target store, Target Circle Bonuses you have to pick, gift card offers, Target coupons, deals that need a minimum spend, pre-orders, contract phones, pharmacy and optical. Target items can't be matched to Target Plus items. Online and app price matches aren't available in Alaska and Hawaii.
Target Circle, Circle 360 and the Circle Card
These are three different things.
- Target Circle (free): you get member deals and a birthday reward of 5% off a future purchase, good for 30 days. You need to add your birthday before your birthday. No card is needed. Target says it is removing the old 1% earnings.
- Target Circle 360 (paid): $99 a year or $10.99 a month, with a 14-day free trial. It gives unlimited same-day delivery on orders of $35 or more, free 2-day shipping on many items and an extra 30 days for returns. Circle Card holders pay $49 a year. Verified college students and people on government assistance pay $4.99 a month on the monthly plan.
- Target Circle Card: a debit card linked to your checking account, or a credit card that needs credit approval. Target says it gives 5% off at Target, free standard shipping on most items, an extra 30 days for returns and no annual fee. I'm just listing what it does. I'm not telling you to get one.
Circle Week and member deals
Target's fall member sale, Target Circle Deal Days, already ran October 6 to 7, 2026. Target hasn't posted a Circle Week for the holidays as of today. Here's what it has posted:
- Deal of the Day: a new deal every day from November 1 to December 24.
- Early Black Friday: November 5 to 7.
Some prices need you to be signed in to the free Target Circle. Join before the sale starts.
Return windows
- Most unopened items: 90 days.
- Target Owned Brand items: one year with a receipt.
- Electronics and entertainment: 30 days. Apple and Beats: 14 days.
- Most Target Plus items: 30 days.
- Circle Card holders and Circle 360 members get an extra 30 days on nearly all items.
Holiday 2026: for purchases from November 1 to December 24, 2026, the clock starts December 26. Electronics and entertainment are due back by January 24, 2027. Apple, Beats and unlocked or prepaid phones by January 8, 2027. Most Target Plus items by January 24, 2027, except seasonal holiday decor.
Final sale: trading cards, gift cards, personalized items and digital downloads can't be returned.
