Skate the Duck Pond, sled and ski in Assiniboine Park this winter

In winter, Assiniboine Park's Riley Family Duck Pond becomes a lit outdoor skating rink, a toboggan hill opens nearby and about 4 km of cross-country ski trails are groomed. Skis, kick sleds and some skates can be borrowed by donation.

How to get it

  1. Go to Assiniboine Park; the warm-up shelter by the Duck Pond is open 7 am to 10 pm.
  2. Bring your own toboggan.
  3. Borrow gear by donation Friday 4 to 8 pm, Saturday 10 am to 6 pm and Sunday noon to 4 pm, when available.
The catchEverything depends on snow and ice. The zoo and The Leaf charge admission.
